Question: I noticed the last job you held was over a year ago. What have you been doing since?
If you're not prepared with an answer, you won't get the job, Tell the truth, but don't play the sympathy card. Try the following:
"It takes time to find a position where I can fully utilize my skills. This position is the perfect fit because..."
"I carefully consider every job offer to see where I can be an asset to the organization."
"I've been looking for a career, not just a job."
"I needed to take personal time off and the right moment in my career came up for me to take the time."
"I decided to take some time to take courses to improve my skills."
Whatever the case, make sure you know the answer BEFORE you step into the interview room.
