December 20 2006 Mystery Movies NewsletterGreetings Mystery Movie Lovers, See my review of the *Philip Marlowe 1983-86 DVD Collection* This collection is pure enjoyment. I think devout Boothe-Philip Marlowe fans will find that this is a set well worth having despite minor inconveniences. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art48203.asp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Previous review: Fallen is one of those over-looked films. It falls into several genres, mystery/detective, supernatural, etc. I missed the title and the first few critical minutes of this film while channel surfing television on one of my ‘can’t sleep’ nights. I searched for the title and bought it. *Fallen (1998)* Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland Fallen is the kind of movie that those who absolutely do not believe in the supernatural, think, “Well maybe.” http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art47842.asp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the News-- Actor Peter Boyle died December 12 at age 71. Peter Boyle will probably always be remembered as Raymond’s cantankerous but lovable dad in the hit television show “Everybody Loves Raymond.” However, Boyle appeared in numerous movies, including “The Friends of Eddie Coyle“ in 1973. This is a fantastic noir-type movie starring Robert Mitchum, the ultimate tough guy in film and in real life. If you can rent or buy this hard-to-find film, you will find a man much different from the beloved Frank Barone. Peter Boyle will be remembered and missed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reviews of Movie Classics *One Body Too Many (1944)* Great mindless fun! ONE BODY TOO MANY, a 1944 delightful black and white grade B or very possibly C movie. It is a silly mystery/horror/comedy type B movie that became the meat and potatoes of so many early studios. I love it. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art14586.asp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please visit mystery movies.bellaonline.com for more content.
