Hello, and welcome to September! We all know what that means -- cooler weather, hurricanes, ragweed, flu shots and perhaps even a bit of snow. School starts, and children as well as teachers are exposed to unfamiliar viruses. The Public Health site at BellaOnline.com will help you maintain your family's health in the midst of these risk factors!
This week's featured article is "Help Yourself Quit Smoking!" You may have been thinking of quitting, or tried but weren't successful. In this article, I report on medical studies that determined what activities and practices helped people quit long-term. Be sure to check it out if you are or know a smoker!
Another article that is new this week is "The Quick HIV Test." You will learn about the rapid oral ELISA test, which does not require blood and gives results in less than 30 minutes.

Did you know that we have free forums available where you can ask questions and discuss public health issues? I have just established new topics for Diabetes and Bird Flu Updates. You can find them here:
Feel free to contact me at any time with questions, comments, suggestions, or just to say hello! You may contact me on the main Public Health page, in the forum, or by replying to this email. I hope to hear from you soon!
