Ghosts Again

Stephanie Arwen Lynch

Saw a ghost tonight.
Shattered window floater--
Your hair, her eyes, his lips.
Clothesline tackle,
I went down.
Knees cracked cement.
Heart lost momentum.
Saw my ghost tonight.
Splintered mercury glass--
A thousand to my one.
Solo lonely aching.
Cellular laryngitis.
Remote control mute.

I couldnīt feel you.
Even the lost memories,
Carried off on shoulders.
Bare bones of past hurts,
Shared laughter & tears,
Was that ghost tonight.
Couldnīt see myself.
No reflection of love
Shimmered in liquid pain.
Shattered.
Splintered.
Dismembered.
I am a ghost tonight.
