November Brides

Joseph Farley

The models pose in white wedding gowns
Amid the golden leaves of autumn
Within the walls of Washington Square.
Silk rustles, bare shoulders persevere
In unpleasant November wind.
The photographers block shots with care
Ensuring no homeless bench sleepers
Appear in background or foreground
Of their glamorous pictorials
Destined to entice would be brides
To spend fortunes on a little girl’s dream
