Party On, Spring

Wayne Scheer

just yesterday
trees shivered in winter cold
today
those same limbs
proudly display
colorful
though skimpy
outfits
ready to party
casting pollen
like mardi gras beads
to a crowd
of boisterous celebrants
too drunk with spring
to care about
the sneezing coughing
hangover
