Poetry
Silvan Man

Natasha Louise Boukouris

There is a window that I look out of
Riddled with rain
Sequined lanes of pavement
By the amber street lamp light
The storm rolls in above
My blanket of stars lost to me tonight
Nothing to protect the layers of me
Bones and flesh exposed
Itís that in-between time again
Some leaves still cling to life and limb
Others reduced to wet bare bark
Clouds like Valkyries riding by
Trailing mixtures of misery from Valhalla
Rain, sleet, snow
Capes of wrath flapping like flags
Orchestrated by November winds
I try to keep from dying myself
Cheeks burn salty sweet
Telling myself I will never be that girl again
But in the end, I am always her
Our time is precious
Amidst all this letting go
So come over here close, close, closer
Out of the woods, from the trees
Comes my Silvan man
Kindle a fire with me boy
Help bring feeling back to my hands
