Hot Drops

Craig W. Steele

I’ll only use a hot sauce if
it has a dangerous-sounding name,
like Lone Wolf Jalapeno Flame
or Camel Kickin’ Red Cayenne.

I savor Blazing Tundra’s scorch
and Sizzling Scorpion’s zesty sting,
crave Fire Valley’s garlic zing,
torch my tongue with Flaming Tumbleweed.

Despite no reason for alarm,
so many people never learn
to love that hellish relish burn,
while hungering for a spicy life.
