I was so pleased to know that even after more than a decade this doily is still being studied and worked by tatters. "Beads & Knots" Needle Tatted Jewelry. Nina Libin has prepared a new book especially for needle tatters. Some shuttle tatted beading techniques were not possible to reproduce as the diameter of the tatting needles would not accommodate all sizes of the delicate beads used in tatted beaded jewelry.

Onion Ring Join with the Tatting Needle
The Onion Ring Join with the Tatting Needle takes a little more manipulation to make correctly

Oeillet, Oval, Circle, and Loop all mean Ring.
The word oeillet, along with loop, oval and circle are all used to indicate a "ring" in this 1867 Mlle Riego pattern from the Royal Tatting book, pg. 10.
