It's a good month for anyone who loves the Beatles. Not only has the Beatles' catalogue of music been remastered for a fresh, like-new sound, the game "The Beatles: Rock Band" was released the same day.

"The Beatles: Rock Band" has generally been hailed as the first Rock Band game that could truly bridge the gap between generations, getting everyone of every age interested in playing the game together. The game, in all its versions, immediately shot to the top of Amazon's video game sales. It has received positive reviews for its graphics as well as the music and the challenge of the game. The game will allow three microphones in order for players to simulate the harmonies achieved by The Beatles.

Some expected the day of the release, 9/9/09, to also bring an announcement concerning the availableity of Beatles songs for download. Though the albums of The Beatles remain among the most popular of all time, no Beatles song is available through iTunes.

There was no announcement made concerning releasing the catalog for download and there is in indication that an announcement coming. EMI, concerned with sound quality, spearheaded the remasered recordings but so far is not interested in making them available via MP3. According to Paul and Ringo, the newly remastered songs are the closest thing to hearing the music live in the studio.

While newer bands come and go with the latest music trends, the Beatles have endured and will continue to do so. A recent poll showed that while 39 percent of respondents 16-29 gave Coldplay a positive response and Kanye West a 42 percent positive response, 81 percent of the same age group said they liked the Beatles.
