“Once again, life had happened while I was making other plans.” Page 91
Ms Jordan writes in and easy to read style and is honest about her own shortcomings and struggles. The book is full of situations that I’m sure we all can relate to. And as a bonus, I noticed that each story sneakily led into a Bible truth or teaching about suffering, discouragement and hope so that before I realized it, I’d had a Bible study.
“I’ve found that where there is manure, there’s sometimes a lesson buried under it.” Page 96
The humor and Bible teaching are enough to recommend the book, but the most important incentive is that all proceeds are donated to the Hugs and Hope Foundation for Critically Ill Children, a non-profit charity founded by Ms Jordan after her grandson was badly burned. The foundation addresses the emotional needs of sick children and their families. “Hugs, Hope and Peanut Butter” is illustrated with drawings by the critically ill children that she helps.
Visit the Hugs and Hope Foundation website to find out the many other ways you can help, such as:
- Send happy mail – Send cheerful cards to sick children
- Be a parent pal – Encourage and stay in touch with parents of a sick child.
- Send balloons to hospitalized children
- Send a birthday party in a box or a bear
- And many more
