Signet´s Lords of Desire

Hello. Welcome back. I hope you´ve all been reading lots of great romances. I´ve just recently returned from a week´s vacation and wished it were longer, because I didn´t have time to read a single book the whole time we were away. I do, however, have two read and ready for you, as well as some other news.
Signet Books introduced the series called Lords of Desire last year, I believe. Larger than life heroes and the women who love them. I´ve read several already this year in other reviews here. This week, I´ve read two recently released books in the series.

The first is "Bride of Hearts" by Janet Lynnford. Cordelia Wentworth wanders off from the other queen´s ladies at a fair and finds herself in need of rescue from an attempted murder. Her rescue comes in the form of Matthew Cavendish, home from a lengthy sea journey. While she is puzzled at the attempt on her life, she is more intrigued by the man who saves her, whose son she has become close to. When I think of "Lords of Desire," sexy images come to mind. But this book is mighty chaste for such a line, I think. Lots of intrigue to go around--more than enough, I think--and a satisfactory story, but not exactly what I´d imagine. This one gets only two of Cupid´s five arrows.

The second book is "Arizona Gold" by Maggie James. Kitty Parrish is on a mission--to find her uncle´s murderer and his gold mine with her half of a map. Unfortunately, his partner´s son, Ryder McCloud, aka Whitebear aka Sam Bodine is also on that same mission and says he has the second half of the map. Neither has any reason to trust the other, and for much of the book, they don´t. Makes it a bit difficult to fall in love. Of course, there´s also that episode where he thought she was a boy....While Ryder fits my image of a "Lord of Desire" more than Matthew Cavendish, he had some moments when I didn´t like him or his behavior very much. This one also earns two of Cupid´s arrows.

And, as always, happy reading and writing! See you next week.
