National Nutrition Month
. The American Dietetic Association aims to educate consumers about the importance of making good nutrition choices and developing sound eating habits. For the latest scientifically based nutrition information, go to www.eatright.org.

National Women’s History Month. Celebrate the wide range of contributions and achievements made by women that have been overlooked in many U.S. history classes. Visit www.nwhp.org for ideas and activities.

Weekly Events

National Sleep Awareness Week
. March 1–8. The foundation of our health, safety, and productivity is sleep. This week the National Sleep Foundation urges us to recognize the importance of sleep and the dangers of leaving sleep disorders untreated. Go to www.sleepfoundation.org for more information.

World Folk Tales and Fables Week. March 1–7. Use this week to explore the rich cultural heritage of folk tales, fables, myths, and legends from around the world—and to revisit the lessons they provide. Stop by your library, bookstore or visit Amazon to read or most likely read again, Aesops Fables, these short tales touch heart and soul and children and adults. National Poison Prevention Week. March 15–21. Get wise to the risk of accidental poisoning. For prevention tips regarding people, go to www.poisonprevention.org; for pets, go to www.aspca.org.

International Women’s Day March 8. A global day now, the first International Womens Day was first celebrated in 1911. St. Patrick’s Day March 17. The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland, but in the United States.
