Real Life Christian Living

This is a true story of Christian Living. It doesn't take place in a far away mission field or even in a church, but in the work place.

Sally, a nail-tech moved her business to a new hair salon. She got settled in and began the normal process of getting to know her co-workers. This ordinary process, however, was soon interrupted. Within the first month of her employment at the new salon, Sally's husband, Frank, was found to have a tumor on his lung. At work, Sally expressed her worry while awaiting the results of the various tests. Several of her new found friends tell her they will be praying for Frank's health while giving encouragement. And they do.

When Sally's fears are confirmed - in-operable lung cancer, schedule of chemotherapy is begun. Meanwhile back at the salon, another schedule is being set up. Co-workers will take turns delivering meals to Sally and her family every other day for as long as it is needed. This allows Sally keep working, since her income has become more necessary than she ever expected. She could then go home to comfort and care for her family without the added chore of shopping and preparing meals.

They also commit to praying for Sally, Frank, and the children. They pray for his health and strength, for encouragement and for God's mighty hand in healing. Receiving encouragement and emotional care from her associates, Sally's strength is renewed so that she, in turn, is able to provide her husband and children with the encouragement and emotional care they need.
Sally says that she told Frank, "We better start going to church. All these people are praying for us and God doesn't know who we are."
But Sally is learning that God does know who they are. He knit them together in their mother's wombs and counts the hairs on their heads.

Only God knows how this story will end. Sally's husband is still undergoing treatment. Sally still works to make ends meet. Her new friends still provide encouragement, meals and prayer. No one knows if God will heal Frank, but all are convinced that He brought Sally to this work place, at this time, to receive the care she needs and in the process to develop a new found relationship with Him.

Christians, do you want to put your faith in practice? You won't have to look far. Ask God to show you a need, then commit yourself to doing what He will tell you to do.
