Travel Hacks - Save More Money III

Spring is here, with summer close on its heels. It’s a time for travel hacks. Millions of people get a serious case of
wanderlust—and the travel industry capitalizes
on it. By utilizing a few carefully chosen travel hacks,
you can make sure you’re not breaking the bank in order to go on vacation.

Travel Hack #1

Park Free

FlightCar has changed the face of
airport parking. With the service, you park
at the airport for free. It will compensate
you by renting your car to other FlightCar
members (each rental is insured up to $1 Million).

If you’re renting a car at your destination,
be sure to check rental car insurance before
you leave for your vacation. A good place to
check is The Zebra. It’s an internet
auto insurance agency and comparison engine.

Travel Hack #2

Call Your Insurance Agency

Many credit cards have rental car coverage
perks, so it’s likely you won’t need additional
coverage. Also renting through places like
Costco and other warehouse clubs can help save
some money as well. Check out the Gasbuddy app.
It helps you find the best gas prices wherever
you find yourself. And, if you want to utilize public
transportation, check out BusBud to find bus routes worldwide.

Travel Hack #3

Glitch Fares

What is a glitch fare? It’s one of the best kept secrets
for flying for a whole lot less. A glitch fare is when an
airline accidentally publishes fares at very low prices.
It’s a technical issue, not a promotion or sale. To find
them head over to The Flight Deal. They gather up
other low-priced deals in addition to the glitches. Make
sure to sign up for their newsletter so that you get the
lowdown on bargain flights as soon as they pop up.

Travel Hack #4

Keep Phone Rates Low

Keep your phone rates low. Utilize Wi-Fi, especially
when on an international flight or visiting parts of
the U.S. that have unreliable cell coverage. Use the
Wi-Fi Finder app. from JiWire. It has
a directory for free and paid hotspots worldwide.
When you’re connected to Wi-Fi, skype if you want to
make calls. It’s only pennies per minute and can
save you some serious money.

To keep rates low on international trips you might
also want to consider purchasing a local SIM card.
To save precious vacation time, use theLocal SIM
based on where you’re staying. You can also use
Roamer.
With it, you can order and receive a pre-paid SIM
card before you head off on vacation.

Travel Hack #5

Clean Your Cache

Aside from enabling private browsing, cleaning
your cache (and cleaning it often) is another good
way to keep fares low. Why? Because when you search
for flights regularly, your computer puts cookies
(internet site tracking devices) in your browser.

The cookies enable sites ‘remember’ what flights
you’ve searched for. The more you search, the higher
the price goes. It’s a scare tactic to get you to book
your flight in a hurry. You can also switch between devices
(your tablet, computer or phone) and they won’t be
none the wiser.

So there you have it, more travel hacks to save
you time and money. The more travel hacks you use,
the more time and money you save. Have fun and send pictures! ;)
