First up this week is the latest from J. M. Jeffries, A Dangerous Obsession (Indigo/Genesis Press). Lily Alexander has suffered more in a short time than most people do in their entire lives, and the man who caused her suffering is aiming to do more harm to Lily. Detective Marco Jackson doesn't intend to let that happen. From the first, he's attracted to her and determined not to let her be hurt again. Lily has a lot to overcome--not only her past, but her present as well, and Marco's just the man to help her do it. Steamy and suspenseful. Plus we get to revisit some characters from Phoenix's Cold Case Department. Great stuff. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one. It's a keeper.
The other book I have to share with you this time out is Emma Holly's Personal Assets (Berkley). Ms. Holly is known for her paranormals and steamy historical romances, but some of you may not know she also writes straight erotica. While you'll get your happy ending here, this one is really more erotica than erotic romance. And if you're at all shy about your love scenes, this one's not for you. Best friends Lela Turner and Beatrix Clouet are about to embark on an adventure in their careers--and in sex. Bea's love interest, Philip Carmichael, comes with complications. Simon Graves is willing to help Lela learn what she needs to for her career, but only in exchange for some very sensual encounters. Let me reiterate my earlier warning: if you prefer your love scenes sweet or nonexistent, skip this one. As for me, well, I like my romance steamy, but as I also said earlier, this leans more toward straight erotica. I'm not a huge fan of Ms. Holly, and this one isn't converting me.
