Harvest Moon

Hello, and welcome back! Theoretically it's spring here, though you can't really tell it by the weather we've been having. But I'm really okay with that, as I was dissatisfied with our pitiful winter. In any case, it's still far too chilly to get any gardening done yet, which means I still have plenty of reading time, at least for a little while longer.

This time out, I have the latest from Robyn Carr in her 'Virgin River' series, Harvest Moon (Mira, received from publicist). Kelly Matlock had her career pretty well planned out: move from sous-chef to chef in a restaurant owned by her friend and boss Luca. Only Luca's wife has other plans for her, and they don't involve Kelly working with Luca any more. When the stress causes her to collapse in the kitchen at work, Kelly knows she has to make some serious changes to her life, and that means she needs to spend some time in Virgin River with her sister Jill. Her first stop on the way there, however, is the local watering hole where she meets sexy single dad Lief Holbrook and promptly passes out. Kelly and Lief have some serious chemistry, but his temperamental teenage stepdaughter Courtney will put just as serious a crimp in any potential relationship if she has her way. I've been a fan of this series since the beginning (just ask my regular romance readers at work), and each installment makes me like the series better and better. Kelly and Lief have a few hang-ups to work out before either is really ready for forever, but reader will want to cheer them on as they work their way there. Even Courtney's behavior and their subsequent reactions made me believe even more in their romance. Lief is a terrific hero, honorable and strong, determined to do the right thing, as is Kelly, and her determination might lead to their parting. This is an awesome story, and I hated getting to the end of it. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one. The worst thing is knowing we have a long wait till we get another installment in the series.

Until next time, happy reading!
