Imagine a day like this… Wake to the sun streaming through your windows. As you stand up and stretch, watch the colorful tropical fish darting around under your bungalow through the glass panel in the floor. Slip into some simple beachwear and step out onto your balcony. Relax in a comfortable deck chair as your tasty breakfast of tropical fruits and pastries is brought directly to your balcony via outrigger canoe. After a leisurely meal, grab your snorkel and mask and jump straight off your balcony into the amazingly clear waters and follow a sea turtle around for a while. Swim back to your bungalow and climb up the ladder to your balcony to dry off and then stroll up the pier to the main resort. Board an outrigger for a guided tour around the lagoon accompanied by wonderful stories of the island’s history and legends. Stop on a sandy secluded “motu” for a picnic lunch. Continue on to some awesome snorkeling spots and finish up the tour in the shallows where the giant rays swim around you and you can feel their velvety softness. Upon your return to the resort relax under the hands of an awesome masseuse. Don a sundress and then enjoy a delicious island dinner under the starlight with island music playing in the background. Wander back down the pier and fall asleep to the sound of the waves gently lapping at the poles of your over-water bungalow. Sleep well and repeat!

And there are other activities to enjoy, of course. You can take 4x4 excursions through the forests up picturesque Mt. Pahia for some breath-taking views of Bora Bora’s fringing lagoon. Or if you’re even more adventurous, you can hike your way up the peak or explore the ancient marae temples along the coast. Take a scuba diving course if you don’t already know how to dive. Rent a jet ski or a Hobie cat for the afternoon and find your own way around the lagoon. Shop your way through the elegant boutiques. Take a horseback ride along the beach.
In Bora Bora, the average highs are in the 80’s throughout the year, and the average lows are in the 70’s. So you’ll be warm and comfortable whenever you’re there. But the number of rainy days varies greatly by month, with the wettest season being December through April. July and August are the driest months but also high season, so September and October are good choices for a visit.
Whenever you come, be prepared. You will end up so relaxed that returning to your real life could prove to be a bit of a culture shock!
