The main character of the series is a 15-year-old girl named Yamada. She is just starting out in high school, and her goal is to have intimate relations with 100 different men by the time she finishes. While she is extremely flirtatious, her insecurities about still being a virgin causes her to reject every guy who makes a move on her. Yamada decides to find an average, inexperienced boy to have her first experience with.
One day, Yamada goes to the bookstore to find a dictionary to replace the one that she had highlighted the sexual terms in. When she tries to get a dictionary from a high shelf, she falls on a young man who she decides is the average and inexperienced boy she's looking for.
As fate would have it, the boy is her classmate and he has a seat right next to her in class. Yamada learns his name is Kosuda Takashi, and she spends her time during the series trying to seduce him. However, Yamada finds herself having difficulties accomplishing her goal of seducing Kosuda. Kosuda is initially taken by her advances, but this quickly changes to confusion due to Yamada's mixed signals.
As one would expect from this premise, there is quite a bit of "fanservice" included in Yamada's First Time; this also includes some brief nudity. In the first episode, there are also a number of times that cherries show up in the imagery. These are the only things that make any of the actual animation memorable, because the art style used for the series is rather average and doesn't have much of anything stylistically to make it stand out.
This series is definitely being played as a comedy, and it utilizes some rather wacky and over-the-top humor. With the subject matter, comedy, and animation, it's definitely not a series being aimed at younger viewers. FUNimation Entertainment has given Yamada's First Time a TV-MA rating, so I can only recommend it to anime viewers who are 18 years of age and older.
