Here is another easy quilt pattern I’ve created for those who wish to make a Linus quilt for charity. It’s an easy quilt with two blocks combined twice to make a very simple block.. We’ll make the pieced block first, then put the whole thing together. This quilt will measure 41" x 33 1/2" rectangle when completed. An ideal quilt for a child. Happy stitching!!
Here's a diagram of the single block, made up of two 4patch blocks and two squares.
Fabric Requirements:
Multicolored Fabric:1/2 yard (50cm)
Aqua Fabric:3/8 yard (35cm)
Brown Fabric:5/8 yard (60cm)
Binding:1/4 yard (25cm)
Cutting Instructions
Brown Fabric:
Aqua Fabric: cut five 2 3/8” strips (width of fabric)
Multicolored Fabric: cut four 4 1/2" strips (width of fabric) and cut 40 4 1/2” squares
Sewing Instructions:
Step 1: 4 PATCHES. Sew one aqua strip to one brown strip. Continue likewise with remaining aqua and brown strips. Press with the seam to the dark fabric. Using rotary cutter and ruler, cut eighty 2 3/8” units. Sew two units together to make one 4 patch unit. Continue with the remaining units.
Step 2:
Sew a 4 patch unit to a multicoloured square. Repeat the same process, then sew the two rows together to form a block.
Step 3: Continue making the blocks. The blocks will measure 7 1/2” x 7 1/2" square. You will need to make 20 of these blocks.
Step 4: Sew the blocks together, four blocks across by five blocks down.
Step 5:Now to sew the top and bottom borders. Take the two smaller rectangles and sew one each at the top and bottom.
Step 6:Sew the two remaining strips to the right and left side of the quilt.
Wonderful. You have completed your quilt top.
Step 6:All that’s left now is to sandwich the quilt, machine or hand quilt it and finally bind the quilt. What a wonderful gift you’ve made for someone that is in need of your generous compassion.
