General Project Properties - Kwik 2

Before we can begin to build the pages of our book, we need to set a few Project Properties for this project. Kwik has several feature options that can be set differently for any project. These general options are what we will take a look at now.

With the page1.psd still open, select the Project and Pages category icon in the top Categories row of the Kwik panel. This will display the toolset for this category. An easy way to tell which category of buttons is currently being displayed is to look for the small blue dot which will be under the current category icon.

Now click on the Project Properties icon (first icon in the top row of tools under the Categories row).

  1. In the Project Properties dialog box, we want to enable the following in the Features section.

    Enable Auto-bookmark
    End App on Suspend
Export Thumbnails (change the width to larger if you wish)
    Create Navigation Panel

  2. Click the Configure button to choose the placement of the slide-in navigational menu. We have the options for the menu to slide in from the top, bottom or either side of the page. For this example, we will choose to have the menu slide in from the top. The default background color for the thumbnail strip is white. We will change the RGB color code to black (0,0,0). Finally, the transparency of the background strip is set to 50% by default. This will allow the page behind it to show through. Let's keep this at 50%.

    Position: Top
    Color: 0,0,0
    Alpha: 50%

Note: If you decide to keep the default settings, you must still click the Configure and then the Create button. If you don't, your app will not work in the simulator.

  3. For the Gestures section, we want to turn off the following.

We want to uncheck the Enable Page Swipe

Turn off Support Landscape in Both Orientations

  4. In the Scale section, we want to use the Letterbox option. This option will not distort or stretch the page to fit the screen and will not crop the page. It will use letterbox bars instead.

  5. Click Save.
