Ixion Saga DT

Ixion Saga DT is an anime based on the online game Ixion Saga.

Kon Hokaze is the protagonist of Ixion Saga DT, and he's a young man who is also a hardcore videogame player. While playing an online game, he is contacted by another player who goes by Flora; she says she needs Kon to help her in the "real world." When Kon accepts, he suddenly finds himself transported into the world of the game.

When Kon enters the game, he’'s sitting on his chair; his chair lands on top of a man named Variation, who is trying to capture a princess named Ecarlate. Kon ends up joining the 8-year-old princess and her entourage: a cross-dressing maid named Mariandale and a swordsman named Sainglain. Their mission is to escort the princess to the capital for her upcoming nuptials.

When I saw what the premise of this series, I had this "been there, done that" feeling come over me. During the Summer 2012 season, the anime series The Ambition of Oda Nobuna featured an unremarkable boy being mysteriously transported into the world of a game. The one thing Ixion Saga DT got right in executing this premise is the fact that it's established at the beginning of the series that Kon is playing a game before he ends up in the game world; in The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, the series opens with the unremarkable male protagonist being in the game world.

I have to say that I was rather bored while watching the first episode of Ixion Saga DT. I didn't know anything about the online game on which the series is based before watching the first episode, so this may have contributed to my lack of interest. By the end of the first episode, I wasn't invested in the characters or in the story, and I felt no incentive to watch more of the series.

Animation-wise, there really wasn't anything to make this stand out from other anime series that have a similar concept. However, I didn't see anything terribly objectionable in the visuals while watching the first episode of the series. Personally, I would recommend Ixion Saga DT to anime viewers who are 14 or 15 years of age and older.
