No It’s Not Candy

Kids will put just about anything in their mouth simply because they can. Today laundry detergent is being mistaken for candy and becoming hazardous for children. I'll give you important and life-saving information on how to keep your daughter from materials that may cause a disaster.

Imagine that I’m bright with shiny colors and I look fun to eat. Not to mention I can be reached just for your convenience. It’s not candy, but kid’s think it is. Laundry packets are making new headlines because they are tastefully packaged.

However, to a child it’s very inviting to the eye. There have been reports of a large number of children being hospitalized with serious complications. As a parent it is your responsibility to keep hazardous material high and locked away.

These gel packets contain strong cleaning agents that can destroy tissue and cause inflammation and swelling. They can also cause irritation to the eyes for long periods if rubbed into them.

The detergent pods are cute, colorful and have a convenient appeal - which makes them a serious threat. As a parent you are charged with preventing this threat. The corporations of the product have since repackaged the detergent pods in childproof containers. However, the original products have not been removed from the shelves. Always keep household cleaning products out of the reach of children.

Important tips to follow to protect your daughter:

• Always keep detergent locked up and out of the reach of children
• Special child proof locks may need to be purchased for safety
• Follow the specific disposal instructions on the label
• Should you suspect your child being a victim of a hazardous material make contact with your local poison control center immediately
• Keep local poison control and other emergency numbers located in a visible spot for other caregivers of your daughter

While a sticker on the container is suppose to remind parents to keep the product away from kids. I'd like to send you an even stronger message: keep this eye candy out of reach and out of sight. Don’t let curiosity end badly.
