Homemade Sugar Scrub Recipe

Most women, RVers or not, love to feel pampered. And if you enjoy making crafty holiday gifts for your favorite female RVer, you should consider making her some homemade sugar scrubs. Sugar scrubs are easy to make and are always well-received because of their relaxing properties.

Since sugar scrubs are made with sugar and a blend of light oils, they are great for soothing dry skin on the hands and feet. Swirl in just the right essential oil scent for some aromatherapy, and your RV gal will be thanking you for weeks.

One thing I love about sugar scrubs is that a little goes a long way. You just need a teaspoon to really soften up any small area of your body, like your hands. And a few tablespoons can exfoliate and soften your entire body.

One aspect that makes a sugar scrub so delectable is the scent. My favorite scents are the Serenity or Elevation blends from doTerra. However, any scent will do: lavender, rose, lemongrass, peppermint, orange, patchouli--the sky is the limit. If you don’t have any essential oils on hand, no worries. You can just use the juice from one fresh-squeezed lemon.

Once you’ve whipped up the recipe, put your scrub inside of a canning jar or other clear glass container. Then stick a pretty label on it, tie a miniature tasting spoon to the jar, put a bow on top of it, and it’s ready to go under the tree.

And here is a nifty idea: If you have several essential oil scents on hand, give her three smaller jars of the sugar scrub, each with a different scent that she can use depending on her mood.

Sugar Scrub Recipe

Enough for one half pint canning jar

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
3 tablespoons light olive oil
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon honey
¼ cup plus 3 tablespoons granulated white sugar
10-12 drops of essential oil

Instructions:

Pour all of the oils and honey into a small mixing bowl. Stir to blend it all together. Next, add the sugar and continue to stir. If the mixture is too oily, you can add a few more tablespoons of sugar. Now add your essential oil drops or lemon juice. Finally, just scoop the mixture into a jar, seal the jar shut, and it’s ready for gifting.
