Marlene Warren Unsolved Murder

It was a Saturday morning on May 26, 1990, and Marlene Warren answered a knock at the door. Standing in front of her was a clown carrying a bouquet of flowers and some balloons. The clown then pulled out a handgun and shot Marlene Warren in the face. Her son from a previous marriage, ran to his mother when he heard the shot. He saw her lying in a pool of her own blood and then saw the clown climb into a white Chrysler LeBaron and race off.

Marlene Warren was the successful owner of a car dealership in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is unclear if her husband was a partner in the dealership, but now that she was dead, he stands to inherit the whole business and the home, among other properties and businesses that she owned. Her husband, Michael Warren, had legal troubles of his own then. He was going to court that following July to face 66 counts of fraud, racketeering, grand theft and other charges. It was also thought that Michael Warren was having an affair with a woman who worked for his wife as a car repossessor. Her name is Sheila Keen. She has brown hair and brown eyes and this is important because the clown had brown eyes, according to Marlene Warren's son.

Several hours after the murder, employees from a costume store had called police and told them a woman bought a clown costume earlier that morning. The police showed the employees a few pictures of women and they identified Sheila Keen as the woman who purchased the clown costume. Michael Warren had an alibi that he was on his way to a race track with some friends at the time of the murder and Sheila Keen said that she was out looking for cars to repossess during that time.

Four days later, the Chrysler LeBaron was found in a parking lot and forensics found some brown hairs and orange fibers from the clown wig, which was a bright orange, curly haired wig. Neither of the suspects had been arrested but Michael Warren still remains the number one suspect of master minding the murder. The police say that they have enough evidence to arrest them but not enough evidence to properly prosecute Warren or Keen. Keen has since moved away from West Palm Beach and Michael Warren was convicted of his 66 count indictment and sentenced to twenty years of probation. It is not published whether or not the insurance company paid Marlene Warren's death benefit or if he did acquire the businesses and the homes that his wife had owned.

The case is still unsolved at the writing of this article and neither suspect were ever arrested for the crime.
