Kwik Multi-Language Read to Me Buttons

In the last tutorial, we assembled the ingredients for our Kwik multi-language book app and set the Multi-Language Project Properties. Now we need to begin working on the details for the cover page.

Remember that we already have created our button layers for the Read to Me buttons for both languages.

Read to Me Buttons

Next we will set up the two Read to Me buttons. Let’s work on the English button first. Remember that we have two layers for this button, if you are using a rollover button. In our sample, the btnEnglish layer is the Default state for the button and the btnEnglish2 layer is the Over state for the rollover button.

  1. Select the btnEnglish layer.

  2. Click the Interactions icon and then the Add Button icon to open the dialog box.

We will first set up the language option.

  3. Name the button action EnReadMe to stand for English Read to Me.

  4. Set the Default layer to btnEnglish and the Over layer to btnEnglish2.

  5. Find the Languages section in the Interactions panel on the left. Select the Set Language to open the dialog box.

  6. Because we set up the Multi-Language Project Properties for English and Spanish, we should see both listed in the menu. Choose English from the Language menu.

  7. Uncheck the Reload page option.

Now we will set the button to work as a Read to Me button.

  8. Open the Common section in the Interactions panel.

  9. Select Read to Me to open the dialog box.

  10. Check the boxes next to Enable Read to Me and Go to Next page automatically.

  11. Click Create to close the dialog box.

  12. Click Create again to close the Add Button dialog box.

Next we will do the same for the Spanish Read to Me button.

  1. Select the btnSpanish layer.

  2. Click the Add Button icon.

  3. Name the button SpReadMe.

  4. Set the Default layer to btnSpanish and the Over layer to btnSpanish2.

  5. In the dialog box, find the Languages section in the Interactions panel on the left. Select the Set Language to open the dialog box.

  6. Choose Spanish from the Language menu.

  7. Uncheck the Reload page option.

  8. Click Create to close the dialog box.

  9. Open the Common section in the Interactions panel.

  10. Select Read to Me to open the dialog box.

  11. Check the boxes next to Enable Read to Me and Go to Next page automatically.

  12. Click Create to close the dialog box.

  13. Click Create again to close the Add Button dialog box.

OK, that takes care of the cover page. Now we will work on page 1.
