Crystals to Help you Sleep

The quality of our sleep has a huge impact on how we feel during the day. If you struggle with insomnia you may find the right crystals can help you sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed.

These are my favourite crystal prescriptions for a good night’s sleep:

Lepidolite
Lepidolite is a pearly lilac coloured stone containing lithium which has a calming effect on the mind. It is often available as ‘lepidolite books’ which are formed of many thin layers of lepidolite. These are perfect for slipping into your pillow case, but tumbled lepidolite can also be helpful. I remember a friend contacting me in desperation because she had been having broken sleep for a long time. She was sceptical about crystal healing, but I sent her a piece of lepidolite anyway and told her to put it under her pillow. I soon received an email to say thank you for the lovely stone. She explained that she’d had her first unbroken night’s sleep for months and wondered whether it was a co-incidence!

White Howlite
White howlite is much underated in my opinion. It is a white stone with beautiful grey veining. Because it readily takes a dye it is more often found marketed as bright blue ‘turquenite’ which is an attempt to mimic the more expensive stone turquoise. What a shame! For sleep use a white howlite tumblestone or palmstone. It has a peaceful, gentle vibration, perfect for rest.

Blue Lace Agate
Blue lace agate is another gentle healing stone with a soothing, restful energy, a perfect choice if stress is keeping your mind whirling at night.

Amethyst
Many people recommend amethyst for a good night’s sleep. I find it enhances the dream state and it may connect you with guidance coming through your dreams. If you’d like to improve dream recall ask the amethyst to help you remember your dreams, then have a pencil and pad of paper by your bed and write down your dreams immediately upon waking.

Labradorite
If you suspect you astral travel or work in your sleep and wake up feeling tired you may like to try labradorite. This is not uncommon, I think we can all travel out of our bodies at night and it is particularly common for healers and spiritual teachers to do this. My students have told me many times that I have taught them through their dreams. Labradorite is a companion for safe astral travel and may stop you feeling so depleted. You could also request that you take a night off when you go to bed, or ask that you are filled with fresh energy when you have worked so that you wake feeling refreshed.

Black Tourmaline
Black tourmaline may help you sleep more soundly if you are troubled by nightmares or things that go bump in the night. Tuck a piece under the mattress at each corner. If you are continually troubled at night and need help you can request a free initial consultation from my husband, Steve Deeks-D’Silva, the Entity Remover.

If you collect crystals check you don’t have too many scattered around your bedroom. Some crystals have a very lively energy and may even keep you awake. If you live in one room then put your crystal collection in a lidded box and keep them away from your bedside. I remember one enquirer who slept with a big handful of assorted crystals under her pillow. They did not harmonise well together as a mixture and it was no wonder her sleep was disrupted!

Remember that all crystals need cleansing and the ones in your pillowcase are no exception. You can read up on cleansing stones here.
