I am an early riser. Even on the weekends! I love to wash and wax my car when the fog is evaporating. Don't gasp! A little in the air and the right temperature can give you the highest gloss ever!! I can only get this combination of elements a few times a year so I usually try to know what the morning will be like the night before. The temperature should be above 50 degrees and below 85 degrees for best results. I find that the COOLER the better so 55-60 degrees is almost perfect. Besides, by mid-day during the summer, it is too hot, the LAST thing you want to do is detail a vehicle!
I was blessed with one of those days and I washed my car this time with Mr. Clean Auto Dry Car Wash Kit. I found it at Wal-Mart for $19.99. I thought the price was quite high for what I was trying to accomplish but I did want to see if it worked like the commercial on TV. Well folks, it DOES work!! I don't know how, but it does work. I still think the price could use a major adjustment. It literally took my car 15-20 minutes to dry. Even though there was still some water left around the bottom of my car, I proceeded with Meguiar's Next Generation Booster Wax which I found for $6.99 at Auto Zone. I apply the wax by spraying it onto my roof and work from the top to the bottom. I apply the wax over every inch of my car exterior and when I'm done with the application, I began the polishing. I find that this saves time and I begin polishing where I began applying because that is where it will dry first. I also find that the waxing process takes less time. Don't be afraid to apply wax to your window's--you'll love it when it rains because it runs right off as your are driving! In a rain shower, when you are not driving, the water will bead up and roll right off!! DO try this at home!! And please, always use a clean cloth when polishing your vehicle! Keep it clean and shiny and always drive safely. -Marie
