Add Internet Explorer Bookmarks to Windows Taskbar

A great time-saving feature of Internet Explorer is the ability to bookmark your favorite or most visited websites in the Favorites folder in Internet Explorer. This allows quick and easy access to your favorite websites without having to remember and type the website address each time you want to visit.

What if there is even an easier way to access your favorite sites? There is!

In addition to being able to access your favorite websites from within Internet Explorer you can also access your Favorites website list from the Taskbar in Windows. This allows easy access all your favorite sites without having to first open Internet Explorer.

The instructions below detail how to add the Favorites folder to the Start menu for easy access to all your bookmarked websites.

To Add Favorites to Taskbar in Windows 7

  1. On the Taskbar (bar with Start Menu button) right-click on a blank section and select Properties

  2. From the open dialog box select Toolbars

  3. Click the box next to Links to activate the Favorites on the Taskbar

  4. Click on OK to exit the dialog box

  5. There is now a Links option in the lower right corner of your taskbar. Click on the double arrow to open the list of your favorite websites and click on the site you want to access.

To Add Favorites to Start Menu in Windows XP:

  1. On the Taskbar (bar with the Start menu) right-click on blank section and select Properties

  2. From the dialog box select Start Menu tab

  3. Click Customize button

  4. Select Advanced tab

  5. In the Start Menu Items section check Favorites Menu

  6. Click on OK to close dialog boxes

To Add Favorites to Start Menu in Windows 2000:

  1. On the Taskbar (bar with the Start menu) right-click on blank section and select Properties

  2. From the dialog box select Advanced tab

  3. In the Start Menu Settings section check Display Favorites

  4. Click on OK to close dialog boxes

Now all of your favorite or most visited websites are right at your fingertips!
