The red hat ladies of Houma are a group of women,who belong to a special club, which every Christmas are visitors to the annual St. Bernard Tour of Homes in Jumonville Plantation subdivision.
This yearly holiday event in St. Bernard Parish features festivities that include a "real" Nativity scene. As well as choirs and local school bands from all over the parish.
In addition to a walk-through of some of the prettiest homes decked to the walls, as well as halls, with beautiful Christmas decorations of all kinds.
The St. Bernard Tour of Homes also aids in raising close to $20,000 for non-profit children's organizations in St. Bernard Parish.
According to a recently released holiday poll, women surveyed between the ages of 30 to 49, say that their favorite all-time holiday song is Nat King Cole's classic "The Christmas Song".
Though "The Christmas Song" is viewed as number-one with them. Closely following not far behind are other titles that include Celine Dion's "O Holy
Night," Burl Ives "A Holly Jolly Christmas," Bobby Helms "Jingle Bell Rock,"
and John Lennon's "Happy Christmas".
