Bangkok Crocodile and Elephant Farms

Bangkok Crocodile and Elephant Farm is located 30 kilometers outside of Bangkok in the town of Samut Prakan. The facility is dedicated to the conservation of the Thai crocodile which very few survive in the wild. The crocodiles are Siamese and salt water hybrids.

The hours are from 7AM-6PM with shows every hour. The educational exhibition shows the interaction between the handlers and the mighty crocodiles. The handlers bait the crocodiles with chicken parts. The handlers enter the yellow murky waters of the palm tree-lined ponds. The waters are 3 meters deep.

These beasts are cunning requiring the handlers to have their wits about them. The handlers work as a coordinated team to capture the reptile for showing. Crocodiles can out run humans and a swipe of the tail is death. Although crocodiles have not a keen sense of smell, they sense humans by vibrations.

The star of the Bangkok Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan is Yai. At 18 feet long, he is the longest on the farm. He was born in the zoo June 10, 1972. When the crocodile exhibition is finished, there are other animals for viewing. There are elephants, gibbons, lions and snakes in the zoo.

The Bangkok Crocodile and Elephant Farm in Southeast Asia is a great place for interaction and learning experience with animals. It increases the appreciation of animals and preservation of the world shared by all.

If travel to Southeast Asia is not an option, visit and support the local zoo. The Earth’s animal population is just as important as the human one.
