Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the official international relief and development agency of the U.S. Catholic Community. Their mission: "…to assist the poor and disadvantaged, leveraging the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to alleviate human suffering, promote development of all people and to foster charity and justice throughout the world."
CRS was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States and now operates on five continents in more than ninety countries. Not only does CRS offer direct assistance to those in need, they promote personal development. CRS is also committed to educating those in the US about their moral responsibility to our brothers and sisters in Christ around the globe.
Currently, CRS is one of the many organizations offering immediate emergency relief to our brothers and sisters who were affected by the recent Tsunami disaster.
