New Artist Review

My Soul Landa

This young lady heralds out of Florida with an urban contemporay style that reminds you of Mary J. Blige. Talented to the fullest, Landa sings and writes on this project. Some of the standouts on the project are the single "More than a Feeling" where she sings of wanting to know God and have the Holy Spirit give her more than a feeling of God's purpose for her life. On this track which is laced with beautiful piano keystrokes, Landa delivers a heart felt plea and this is where the Mary J sound comes through. Her popular release "Still Not Saved" is also a worthy listen. There is a haunting calling to this track with lyrics that state "my friend all you have to do is say Father I need you, forgive me for all I've done wrong and if it's okay can I come back home” We can all relate to that time when we finally realized that time was slipping and we needed to be saved before it was too late. On the final song on the project, the wonderful ballad, "Holy Arms" Landa is joined by independent artist Jermain Shepard. The two of them blend well singing of wanting to be in the arms of God. It's a beautiful track and I only wished it lasted longer. (Smile) A great start for this independent artist who is filled with talent. To learn more about Landa log onto www.sonicbids.com/landa

Undignified Avery Stafford

Opening the project with a bumping rendition of the old standard "How Sweet it is to be Loved by U" this projects opens with a great groove. Twisting the lyrics to reflect the love of God instead of the physical love of a man and woman this track slowly pulls you into its soulful flow. There is even a rap added into the mix by Jared Duba (aka Jesus Disciple) who spits the lyrics with a smooth style. A few of the highlights of this project is the sweeping ballad "I Am" which Avery wrote, as a matter of fact, except for a few tunes he writes most of the songs on this CD. This track has a wonderful chorus which you feel should have a choir singing it from the very beginning instead of at the end of the tune. However it's a beautiful song worth listening to and Avery's voice does it justice. Finally on the Latin flavored tune of "Family” Avery is joined by Tim Abbott on guitar and Tony Bolivar on the flute. The three of them add a great spark to this tune. Krucial Testimony Speedygunz

J. Stephens (AKA Speedygunz) delivers a fresh holy hip-hop sound on this project opening it up with a brief intro that gives his testimony. He moves on to "Who's That" a hard thumping, bass driven beat that tells you more about him and how he got into the rap game for Christ. As with most hip-hop artists, and as the title suggest, the tracks on this album give lyrics about Speedy and how Christ changed his life. This is a great way to bring others to Christ. Just when you think the entire project will reflect this theme, he throws in the track "Letter from Hell" about a believer that commits suicide and writes to others from hell to let them know not to make the same mistake. The chorus of "As I scribble out this letter, through the burning away, I took my Father's gift for granted, and then I made a mistake. Tomorrow's never promised so why would you wait. Hear me crying for forgiveness before it's too late" Yeah Speedy gives us all something to think about. You can contact Speedygunz at standoutrecords@hotmail.com!
