This is a very easy outfit to make and will fit most 6 to 8 inch dolls of the body type like American Girl mini dolls, Betsy McCall and Ginny. This outfit will not fit 8 inch baby dolls as their bodies are bigger around.
The entire outfit can be made from scraps left in your scrap basket. I would estimate that I could make 4 to 5 outfits from one fat quarter of fabric, which is approximately 18 by 21 inches in size. I used two contrasting fabrics, to give visual interest, but you certainly could make it all in one color.
The outfit is pictured to the right in a 7 1/2 inch doll that I purchased at a big box craft store, for about $1, so you can still enjoy this size doll even if you don't have one of the more expensive ones.
If you have a boy doll of this size, you can make it a boy's outfit by leaving off the ribbon, or substituting yarn, cord, twine or grosgrain ribbon. You might also think about the fabric you choose to make the outfit with for a boy doll.
