YouTube Projects for Business and Marketing

In this lynda.com video training course entitled YouTube Projects for Business and Marketing, Jason Osder covers the ground work for incorporating YouTube video marketing into you overall marketing strategy. If your company has previously used only traditional DVD video marketing and is considering making a transition to online video marketing, this course is a great place to start. Also, if you are new to marketing, this course is also a good place to learn a few of the basics.

Osder begins with an introduction to YouTubeR as a marketing platform and gives you a tour of YouTube's online tools and resources for marketers, especially YouTube's profiling tools. He discusses how YouTube is replacing the DVD as a platform for video marketing.

Now that Osder has convinced his viewers of the merits of YouTube, he begins his discussion of creating marketing videos for YouTube. He first discusses making the transition from traditional video marketing to YouTube marketing, especially how to adapt the existing content to the small mobile screen. Next, he discusses the SEO features on YouTube and how to use YouTube's social marketing tools.

The next topic is advertising on YouTube and Osder discusses how YouTube is quickly growing in this area and the various types of ads available. To end this section, he reinforces the fact that YouTube is only one part of your marketing strategy.

In the next section, Osder discusses ways to plan your YouTube marketing from a simple list of goals to scenarios and gives us a tour of a few helpful marketing resources on YouTube. He gives a short overview of ways to use traditional marketing tools for your YouTube marketing plan, such as content mapping and wire framing.

Osder moves on to discuss the aspects that you need to consider when choosing and creating content for our YouTube video. He discusses in more depth the adjustments needed to make the transition from DVD video marketing to YouTube or online video marketing. I found this section most helpful as he demonstrates in Premiere Pro how to "cut up" or section a traditional marketing video in to serialized parts for YouTube. He also demonstrates the importance of using graphics in your video that are dedicated for small screens. He also discusses some current style trends in advertising and gives some real world examples.
