Odd Items to be Cleaned Yearly, at least

There are some household cleaning items that should be done Yearly or Bi-Yearly. I am just going to list a few here in this article and ways you can accomplish them. (They are listed in random order).

1) Light fixtures - recessed lighting - chandeliers -
The lighting in your home can make a huge impact on visitors. There is nothing better than walking in to a space that the light fixtures are sparkling and bright. If you don't clean your "hard to reach" lighting and receptacles then you are dulling the light in your living spaces. A little vinegar and water (3/1 ratio) will be your best friends in this cleaning instance. You can finish the glass/window/mirror job with your favorite window cleaning product - store bought or homemade.

2) Interior Outlets - switches-
This may not be one that you have ever thought about before, but we actually lived in a home that a little mouse had "fried" inside our outlet. We would have never known that had we not been cleaning out the outlet in question. So it is a good idea to do this - yearly or every other year even. You will just want to unscrew the plate cover and then vacuum inside there or wipe it out with a dry cloth. Don't use or spray any liquid product inside or else you could damage your outlet completely.

3) Garage - Carport -
This is an area that oft times gets forgotten. But if you can plan to give it a deep cleaning, as well as spruce it up, every year then you will be ahead of the game. The more you get in the habit of using storage bins and organizational helps in your garage, the better able you will be to keep your Garage organized and pleasant to be in. Never store your garbage receptacle in a closed garage. The smell will soon over power your entire garage and seep inside your home whenever the garage interior door is opened.

Stay tuned for next weeks article as I continue to look at unique items that need to be cleaned yearly or bi-yearly. Good luck on all of YOUR cleaning needs.

Make it a great one!
