Using Essential Oils to Boost Your Mood

We could all use a boost from time to time. Some of us choose essential oils to remedy depressing times. Everything from roll-ons, to sachets, to room sprays are used. Rooms sprays are easy and simple to make and will cost you far less than the $8 cans of spray found on grocery store shelves.

The world is going through some stressful times and if you watch television, are on Facebook or listen to the radio, there's no escaping it. How do you create a tranquil space in the mist of chaos? You find yourself a room, get still and bring on the essential oils.

Bergamot, lavender and chamomile are oils known for relieving stress and enhancing your mood. Chamomile is known for its ability to help in calming your mind and a tensed body. It has also been used to ease grief, anger and sensitivity. On the other hand, oils like rosemary are known for energizing, clearing your mind and promoting vitality.

Bergamot helps in calming as well. It also promotes mental clarity and helps stabilize overpowering emotions. It blends well with most oils, however, when combined with sandalwood and clary sage you get serenity and the soothing of stressed nerves.

Lavender is known to nourish, balance and reduce feelings of anger. Mix it with lemon essential oil and it will help elevate your mood and re-energize your tired mind.

For those of you who like to do things yourself, here are a couple of recipes for you to try:

Chamomile To Uplift You

1 1/2 oz of vodka or witch hazel
4 oz spray bottle
15 drops of chamomile essential oil
15 drops rosemary essential oil
1 1/2 oz distilled water

Add the essential oils to your spray bottle. Pour the vodka/witch hazel into a small spray bottle and shake well. Add the water and shake again. Spritz around your house whenever you need a lift.

Sunny Day Lavender Blend

1 1/2 oz vodka/witch hazel
4 oz spray bottle
15 drops of lavender essential oil
15 drops lemon essential oil
1 1/2 oz distilled water.

Add the essential oils to your spray bottle. Pour the vodka/witch hazel into a small spray bottle and shake well. Add the water and shake again. Spritz around your house whenever you need a lift.

The smell of alcohol may overpower your essential oils. You can use witch hazel instead.

That’s if for this week. As always …
