Sacred Expectation

I like to hang a quotation on my refrigerator, at eye level. Several times a day I'll read it and spend a few minutes considering its meaning. I make an effort to look past the surface and search for how it will change my life. The following quotation has been on my mind for a few weeks.

“With a sacred expectation, I look for God in all of the circumstances of my day” – A W Tozer
Expectation
From the dictionary - Expectation means anticipation. I’m looking forward to it. I’m expecting it. It also means assurance. I am assured it WILL happen.

All This little word stood out to me. We all know what it means. – The whole - everything

When considering Tozer’s thoughts, my first question is:
Do I look for God in all the events of the day? Or do I go about my chores on my own, reserving God for special occasions, such as church, Bible study, visits with special friends? Is God the Father in the dishwashing, house cleaning, and lawn mowing?

Do I expect Him? Am I assured He will show up?

My second and possibly the most important question is:
Since I want God's presence in everything I do, do I view all circumstances as sacred?
From the dictionary, sacred is dedicated or set apart for the service or worship of God. Sacred means entitled to reverence and respect. Highly valued and important.

When I plan my day—a trip to the grocery store, a meeting with friends, the cleaning my house—am I anticipating the sacred? Is each chore or happening set apart for the service or worship of God? Am I expecting (and assured that) all events are ordained by a high and holy God? Am I assured that every event will contain an element of the holy? Will I remember to willingly give Him control?

Daily happenings are not accidents or even "God-spys." If God is in them, they are sacred. These thoughts change how I view my day, my life, and eternity.
