Earth Day Freebies

Earth Day is this Wednesday April 22, 2009. In honor of the celebration, many businesses are giving away Earth Day Freebies. On Earth Day, it is best to take some time and focus on ways that you can help protect the environment. Brainstorming creative ideas with your children or family can lead to numerous activities that you can participate in. Everyone can do something to help protect the environment and by making it a fun event, it’s easy to get children involved.

Educators and homeschoolers might find some great lesson plans and teaching resources from Classroom Earth. This non-profit site is a program created by the National Environmental Education Foundation and is a treasure trove of environmentally conscious lesson plans, news, teaching ideas, and resources. You’ll find links to environmentally friendly websites, curriculum, book lists, and more.

Home Depot stores will be giving away an Ecosmart light bulb. Supplies are limited and there is one light bulb per patron. You do not need to make a purchase in order to get the light bulb. This freebie begins on April 19, 2009.

Disney stores are also participating in Earth Day freebies. To help promote recycling, bring in three plastic bottles to any Disney Store and you’ll receive a free gift. Supplies are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis.

Walgreens is giving away Earth Day freebies, through its Friends and Family event, on April 22, 2009. If you know someone who works at Walgreen’s ask them for a friends and family coupon, you’ll save between 15% on your purchase and Walgreen brand name products are 20% off. There is also a recyclable Walgreen’s bag being given away.

Starbucks is giving away Earth Day freebies as well. Bring a coffee mug/travel mug to your local participating Starbucks and they’ll fill it with Pike Place Roast. That’s a great way to start off your Earth Day!

Shoppers at Target will enjoy these Earth Day freebies on April 19, 2009. Receive a free reusable Target tote bag when you make your purchase. The bag will include a coupon for $2.00 plus a GE compact, fluorescent light bulb. Supplies are limited.

It’s important to realize that each store has its own rules and quantities are limited. For best results in obtaining your Earth Day freebies, contact your local store ahead of time and ask if they have any Earth Day promotions available.
