Stanley Livingston

Stanley Livingston played Chip Douglas on the long-running sitcom My Three Sons that aired from 1960 to 1972. As the youngest of the three original sons, Livingston was on 298 episodes of the 380 produced. By the time the show closed, Chip was married to Polly, his college sweetheart.

But, whatever became of Stanley Livingston? According to the results of extensive research, he has been a very busy man. His career began when he was four years old when he performed with the Water Babies, an underwater swim group. His first acting gig was on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. He was a semi-regular on the show for four seasons until he joined My Three Sons.

He has appeared in ten feature films and several TV movies along with such luminaries as Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Dorothy Provine, Doris Day, David Nivin, Charles Bronson, Mary Tyler Moore and George Kennedy.

Later he started writing and producing shows. He wrote the musical Dorian, produced in LA, and included his real-life brother and My Three Sons co-star Barry Livingston.

He also produced the one-woman show, Hey, Ma... starring veteran actress Kaye Ballard played at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles.

As a freelance director, Livingston directed all 20 episodes of Cory the Clown, a new children’s television series. The show was produced at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood for Funny Productions.

As head of First Team Productions, he recently produced the feature film, Checkers, shot around the Los Angeles area. He also completed production on the highly ambitious and instructional The Actor’s Journey Project, an important educational-informational DVD series geared toward anyone who is interested in the entertainment industry. The eight-part (10 hour-long) series was compiled for those who are serious about wanting to learn their craft.

Although The Actor’s Journey was originally created for adult performers, a five-part, five-hour long DVD series, The Actor’s Journey for Kids, was put together for the parents of child and teen actors.

Livingston gathered over 100 motion picture and television industry insiders including producers and executive producers, directors, show runners, casting directors, talent agents and managers to garner as much knowledge as possible to give newcomers the opportunity of a life time. The project was sanctioned by and included interviews with the presidents of the two most powerful industry unions, The Screen Actor’s Guild and The Director’s Guild of America. Other industry insiders have also endorsed the project.

From child actor to the highly regarded head of his own production company, the multi-titled Stanley Livingston has traveled quite a long way since appearing as a young boy on My Three Sons.
