Instructions:

Step 1: Print out SIXTEEN COPIES of the paper foundation pattern. Cut out each of the paper-piecing units just outside of the dashed lines of the seam allowance.  WebTV users may click here to view a printable image of the paper foundation pattern.

Step 2: Using a VERY short stitch length setting on your sewing machine, paper-piece each unit following the numbers on the printed foundation.

Step 3: When all of the units have been pieced, carefully trim away the excess paper and fabric by cutting on the dashed lines of the seam allowance.

Step 4: Arrange the paper-pieced units according to the quilt image at the top of this pattern.  With right sides together, sew units together to form four rows and press seams on each row in opposite directions.  Sew the four rows together to finish the quilt center and press seams in one direction.

Step 5:  Carefully remove paper from the back of the quilt.

Step 6: With right sides together, add the inner borders by sewing the shorter strips to the left and right sides of the quilt center.  Press seams toward the inner border.  Sew the longer strips to the top and bottom of the quilt and press seams toward the inner border.

Step 7: With right sides together, add the outer borders by sewing the shorter strips to the left and right sides of the inner border.  Press seams toward the inner border.  Sew the longer strips to the top and bottom of the inner border and press seams toward the inner border.

Step 8: Quilt and bind as desired.
