I used Delica beads for my example, and like the last set of bracelet
patterns I really suggest starting in the middle so you can size it
properly to your wrist. My wrists are 7 inches, and the pattern fit me
perfectly. Add or subtract rows on both sides to make it fit.
Other suggestions for working in square stitch. Cylinder beads are ideal for square stitch because there are so many thread passes. I like using Silamide, and using other types of beads is not always successful.
When you start a new thread, use a stop bead on the end of the new
thread and bring it up a few rows away from where you need the new
thread to start. Let the threads dangle from both the ends and starts
until you are done beading then weave the loose ends in, removing all
your stop beads. Trust me. I forgot to do it and wound up snapping one
of the beads in the bracelet above.
One of the things I like best about square stitch is how very secure it
is, but if you are crunched for time, I'd suggest either adding 2 beads
at a time, or looming it. It's an incredibly strong stitch, but it's
also very time consuming.
