This is a style that can be created at home by using one of several methods.
First shampoo your hai, towel blot, and apply firm hold mousse, or spray gel throughout from the root to the ends. Spray volumizer or root lift at the base of the hair strands.
Blow Dry and Curling Iron
Blow your hair dry, creating as much fullness as possible.
Take small sections of hair and curl each with a small barreled curling iron. ( about 3/4 inch) After creating each curling iron curl, recurl it with your fingers and clip it with a small roller clip while it is still warm.
Loose Pin Curls
If you are not confident with a curling iron, blow your hair partially dry (about 80%) and create pin curls in two inch sections of hair, all over your head. Let your hair dry completely. It may take an hour or two.
Roller Set
Wet set – rollers are set into damp hair and removed when the hair is dry. This gives more curl to hair that does not curl easily and makes it last longer.
Hot rollers – These are set into dry hair. They give body and soft curl and will work well if your hair holds the curl well. Use medium sized rollers.
Finish
After each set, remove the rollers or clips carefully and loosen the curls with your fingers. Simply shake your head for a tumble of romantic curls. If your hair holds the curl well and you want a style of smooth waves and large curls, use a boar bristle brush to brush your hair straight back. Then bring the hair forward and arrange the waves and curls with your fingers. Use flexible hold hair spray for control while still allowing movement.
Color
Marilyn’s wasn’t the first medium length curly hairstyle. The combination or the sexy waves and the striking blonde hair color caught everyone’s eye and made it her signature image.
To get her hair color, your hair must be lightened to extra light natural blonde. If you are starting out with dark hair, visit a professional colorist to get the color you want and to keep your hair in great condition.
If you have medium light to light hair naturally and you don’t want to go to all-over color, you can still achieve the Marilyn mystique with lots of light blonde highlights. Highlights are best in light to medium blond or light brown hair. I don’t recommend this on hair that is naturally medium to dark brown or black.
