Red Lily

Hello, and welcome back! I just realized I have a little more than a week to get ready for Thanksgiving...and I have no idea how I'm going to do it. I'll squeeze in a little prep time somehow, somewhere. Of course, I've found plenty of reading time lately, though, so I have lots of new and upcoming books ready to share with you all.

Strange Attractions (Berkley) by Emma Holly is now out in mass market for those who couldn't quite bring themselves to buy the trade size last year. And, since I reviewed it last year here, I won't again. I'll just say if you're looking for more erotica than romance, this might be something you want to check out.

The Perfect Waltz (Berkley) by Anne Gracie is next, with Hope Merridew and rogue Sebastian Reyne, a pair that shouldn't even contemplate marriage if they live by society's rules. If you like such strict parameters for your stories, this might be right up your alley. It doesn't do it for me, however, so I found it hard to work my way through this one. Sebastian has some perfectly charming and amusing little sisters, but they weren't enough to make me really love this story. If you're a fan of the genre, I'm sure you'll feel differently. This one gets three of Cupid's five arrows.

Red Lily (Jove) by Nora Roberts is the last of her 'In the Garden' trilogy, and has a release date of November 29, 2005, just two weeks away. For those who've been waiting impatiently for the last six months to get their hands on it, your wait is nearly over. Hayley Phillips has had an interesting time of it since coming to her distant cousin's in Tennessee. Amelia, the ghost in the house, seems to be even more unhappy than usual when Hayley and Harper grow closer, emotionally and physically. I was very sad to reach the end of this one, knowing it meant the end of the series. I'm a huge fan of Ms. Roberts's books, and this series is no different. Her characters are amazingly believable, and her storytelling just gets better every time. This one is spooky and intense, and it's going to have you laughing out loud with the characters and tearing up when they do. She's absolutely the best. And this book has earned five arrows. I don't know how she'll top it.

Until next time, happy reading!
