Will Wheaton

Shelia Goss: You’ve worked with a lot of people as an accomplished songwriter. When did you decide to go from behind the scenes and do your own album?
Will Wheaton:
This is actually my second album. My first album “Consenting Adultz” was in 1998. I ended up putting it out myself.

Shelia: What should listeners expect from your new album?
Will:
Expect real good soul music. Great songs that make you want to love and love soul music again. Everything is from the heart.

Shelia: Are there any duets or any other collaborations on this album?
Will:
No actual duets. I have a couple of featured artists on the record like Young MC, Dave Thompson from Take 6, Bridget Bryant-one of the singers that sing with Will Downing.

Shelia: Do you think the “Old School” sound is making a comeback?
Will:
Absolutely. Artists like John Legend and Musiq Soulchild are bringing the sound back to the forefront.

Shelia: How do you want women to feel after listening to your album?
Will:
Like they just been with a man. (lol). Loved. As if they lost the best guy they could have ever had.

Shelia: Who do you listen to when not in the studio?
Will:
A lot of different people. I don’t listen to a lot of music as much anymore, because I do it so much. When I do it’s Luther. . . Barry White. . . Will Downing. . . I dig John Legend and Musiq Soulchild. . . I also listen to Jeffrey Osborne.

Shelia: What is a typical day like for you?
Will:
My day starts around 5:30 or 6 in the morning. I try to get up early to go to the gym. I run a couple of different businesses so I’m usually back in the office by 8 and work until about 3 or 4.

Shelia: What advice would you give those interested in breaking into the music industry?
Will:
Follow your passion. Do music that you feel. Don’t try to do what’s out there, do you. Be who you are and everything will follow. Don’t give up and develop a thick skin.

Shelia: Do you have any sisters or brothers? If so, are they also in the music business?
Will:
I’m an only child.

Shelia: With a voice like yours, some of the female readers might be wondering if you’re single and available. Are you?
Will:
I am almost taken.

Shelia: Is there anything else you would like to share with your fans?
Will:
I want to thank them very much for getting me to this point. Thank you tremendously.

Shelia: Do you have a website?
Will:
Yes. Willwheaton.com
