A Fab Four Christmas: The Ultimate Beatles Tribute and Have yourself a FAB-ulous Little Christmas are both Fab Four albums that have garnered impressive reviews for their Beatles-style Christmas songs. As a creative enterprise, the songs have little of a tribute band feel, instead sounding much like the boys sounded on each of the classic songs that are used as the basis of the Christmas songs.
The imitations are extremely close, making it almost possible to believe that the Beatles sang songs such as Silent Night and Jingle Bells to the beat of their own Ringo. The songs start out with the intro of a familiar Beatles song. The melody is then blended into that of a familiar Christmas song. With lyrics from classic carols and the melody and accents of the Beatles, these albums are unique among the run-of-the-mill Christmas albums on the market.
For those who can't stand the thought of a Beatles cover band, there is a Christmas album available from a real Beatle. Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters, the Best of Ringo Starr has a selection of Christmas tunes sung by Ringo himself. Ringo's Christmas album is full of both traditional tunes and interesting newer ones. The songs feature not only his boyish voice and expert drumming, but bagpipes and a sitar as well.
If only one Beatle won't do, there is always Christmas Fun With the Beatles. An extremely rare album, this 1986 release is prized among Beatle collectors as one of the hardest albums to find. There is no song list available and no word as to how the album came to be released in the 80's. But, though the real album is hard to come by, the imitators have created albums that look to be classic Christmas albums for Beatles fans and Christmas fans alike.
