Historic Farm House Decor
Early American farmers would probably be amused by our modern obsession with farm house decorating. Who would have imagined that all those old kitchen tools and farm implements would be used as decoration at some point. Milk cans, butter churns, egg beaters and other vintage kitchen gadgets remind us of a time when food may have tasted better & been more nutritious, but they sure did have to work hard for it.
Fabrics for farm House Decor
If you’re decorating a farm house, try using textiles like vintage flour sacks, calico and gingham. Kitchen towels are available in a gingham pattern, as well as the traditional tablecloths. You can also find wallpaper with these patterns on them.
Vintage aprons are making a comeback. Even if you never remember to wear one, they look adorable hanging on a hook. You can use the pocket to stash emergency cash for the pizza guy.
Farm house decor takes us back to an idyllic time and place, even if we’ve never been there. Scouring antique shops for vintage appliances and decor items, even breadboxes and kitchen canisters can turn a day out shopping into a history lesson.
