Hello, and welcome back! It looks like we're finally getting some seasonable weather here--chilly, as it should be for March, rather than hot and humid like July. Still, the crocus and daffodil that are blooming in the side flowerbed don't seem to mind the change in temperature. On the other hand, baseball is only two weeks away here. That means, cold or not, I'll be carting books along to practices on the nights I'm not working. If only the April stack were taller.... In the meantime, I've got the last two March books to share with you today.

Never Seduce a Scoundrel (Pocket) by Sabrina Jeffries leads things off this time, with the first in a new series. Lady Amelia Plume wants adventure, not boring Society gents who're only after her money. Meeting Major Lucas Winter, though, might just be more adventure than she can handle. I was a bit disappointed in this one. For such a 'smart' girl, Amelia does some surprisingly stupid things. And Lucas gives up his quest far too easily after what we're lead to believe of him early in the tale. Pity. This one has earned only two and a half of Cupid's five arrows.

Small Town Girl (Ballantine Ivy) by Patricia Rice is next, with Flynn Clinton trying to settle down in a small town after the end of his country music career. All he wants is to get his boys back and live quietly. But Joella Sanderson is definitely not quiet, nor is much else in the small town he's chosen to settle in. This one starts off with sparks between them, and keeps up at a pretty rapid pace for such a sleepy town. Flint and Jo are fighting the same battle, though they don't realize it at first, but for Jo to win, Flint has to lose. Patricia Rice's books are always a treat to read, and I look forward to each of them more than the last. For fans of LaVyrle Spencer who're still looking for someone similar, this one would be a very good choice. I'm giving this one four arrows. And wondering whether Jo's sister gets the next story.
