Quick and Easy Pasta Recipes

Macaroni and cheese, the ultimate comfort food. But there are so many other pasta dishes you can make that are just as delicious. Take a look at these:

Cook pasta and add butter, or stir in cheese until it melts. Or use cottage cheese, or feta cheese, or a combination.

Add the following to cooked pasta: olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, chopped garlic, red pepper, basil and Parmesan cheese.

Add a jar of Alfredo sauce to make Alfredo pasta, add cooked chicken to make chicken Alfredo

Jars of tomato sauce can be added to pasta for a quick and tasty dish

Pasta, pesto and cashew nuts makes a healthy, balanced vegetarian dish.

For variations of macaroni cheese you can make your own sauce with butter, flour and milk, or just cook macaroni, sprinkle cheese on the top and cook it under the broiler. Or do both and cook it in the oven.

If you want to add meat to one of the above pasta dishes, then cooked and chopped sausages work well.

Here are two of my favorite pasta recipes:

Chicken Noodle Casserole

1 packet of cooked noodles
1 pound cooked chicken, chopped
can of condensed chicken soup
can of condensed mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup of saltines, crushed
½ cup butter

Cook the noodles and lay them on the bottom of an open casserole dish. Spread the chicken evenly over the pasta. Mix together the two soups, sour cream, salt and pepper, and pour the mixture over the chicken and pasta. Melt the butter, add the crushed saltines to the butter and sprinkle the mixture over the top of the casserole. Cook in the oven for 30 minutes on 350 degrees (or 175 C).

Spaghetti Bolognaise
¾ packet spaghetti
olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 pound ground beef
can chopped tomatoes (optional)
jar of pasta sauce (choose your flavor)
Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top

Cook the onion in the olive oil until brown, stir in the beef and cook until browned. Add the jar of pasta sauce and (optional) can of tomatoes. Bring to the boil, leave to simmer on a low heat for about an hour. Cook the spaghetti and drain, serve on individual plates, then pour the pasta and meat over the spaghetti and add Parmesan cheese to taste.
