Christian Family Vacation in the Ozarks

When you’ve had enough of thrill rides and amusement parks, think about making your next family vacation a Bible experience. In the Ozarks, on the eastern edge of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, there is a complex where the whole family can learn Bible history. The education is fun for adults and children alike. Bible truths are presented by seeing, hearing and interacting. The main attraction, The Great Passion Play, runs from the end of April to the end of October. A cast of hundreds perform the drama surrounding Christ’s last days on earth, crucifixion and resurrection, amid the historically accurate settings. The first-rate production features state-of-the art sound and lighting effects and original music in the dramatic two-hour presentation of the last week in the incarnation of Jesus of Nazareth. Every one of the 4,100 seats – with backrests – in the outdoor amphitheater is placed for a good view. Performances are easy to fit into your schedule since they run everyday except Sunday and Wednesday.

On your way to The Great Passion Play, be sure to arrive early enough to see the Parables of the Potter. Each evening, before the performance, the Potter stands at his wheel molding clay. As he works, he teaches from inspirational scripture passages.

You will also want to check out the New Holy Land Tour. You’ll need 2 ½ hours for this interactive Biblical teaching tour. You are transported by tram back into history. At stops along the way you meet characters presenting a living history of the scriptures.
Another favorite of mine is the Tabernacle Teaching Tour. The Levitical Priest explains the spiritual significance of the Tabernacle.

In the complex is a stunning feature that you won’t be able to miss. A seven story sculpture of Christ was created by Emmet Sullivan, one of the artists who sculpted Mount Rushmore. Called Christ of the Ozarks, it is open to the public 24 hour a day at no charge.

The Great Passion Play complex is a non-denominational ministry dedicated to sharing the knowledge of the teachings and inspirations of Jesus Christ.
All of the sites, except the Bible Museum are handicap accessible. Visit the website to learn more and to see pricing. The Great Passion Play.
